Audi Q7 has included a new steering wheel – and two new steering wheels. The new steering wheel of the heavy weight corresponds to the current Audi design, as we already know from the new models A1, A6, A7, A8 and the A5 just revamped.

Audi has hinted at launching a new Q3 compact crossover positioned below the Q5 ever since the debut of 2007’s Cross Coupe quattro concept. However, an even smaller soft-roader is expected to be launched to help Audi reach its goal of delivering 40 different models by 2015. The new entry-level soft-roader is likely to be called the Q1 and latest reports claim it won’t come onto the market until late 2012 at the earliest.

Rising fuel prices are causing buyers of large SUVs to downsize to smaller and more fuel efficient vehicles, but many don’t want to give up some of the unique characteristics of their SUVs – namely, the taller ride height and line of sight. Carmakers are predicting strong growth in the compact SUV segment and are racing to develop a new generation of tiny soft-roaders. Audi’s parent company, Volkswagen, is expected to launch a new SUV version of its next-generation Polo and BMW is currently testing prototypes for its new X1.

The new Q1 is expected to be based on Audi’s upcoming A1 minicar, which itself will be based on a modified Polo platform. The car will measure approximately 3.95m in length and will feature a coupe-styled body. Both two and four-door versions are expected to be released.

Power will come from a 1.4L TFSI four-cylinder engine producing 125hp (93kW) or a TSI unit with 150hp (112kW). Diesel fans will be able to pick from a 1.2L TDI with 80hp (60kW) or a 1.6L TDI with 120hp (90kW).

Gianni Morbidelli zal terugkeren naar de Superstars Series als onderdeel van de Audi Sport Italia hun nieuwe project.

De nieuwe Audi RS5 zal deelnemen aan de Superstars Series later in het seizoen 2011, en dankzij een deal met Brescia gebaseerde industriƫle onderneming Camozzi, Morbidelli zal achter stuur van de nieuwe raceauto zijn debuut krijgt.

Morbidelli won vier Superstars titels, waaronder twee Italiaanse titels met Audi Sport Italia in 2007 en 2008. In 2009 reed hij voor BMW Italia, om de Italiaanse en internationale titels te winnen.

Er is nog geen datum gegeven voor het debuut van de RS5, maar in de tussentijd zal Morbidelli race aanvangen met een bestaande RS4 model waarmee hij zijn titels won in het verleden.

As soon as the rumors went that BMW is considering making hot version of the X1, speculations of upcoming hot version of the future Q3 has raised.

German auto-magazine “Auto Motor und Sport” says that Q3-S crossover will be powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 300 PS (221 kW / 296 hp). The engine will be very similar to the Audi RS3. Additionally, we can expect revised styling, a sport-tuned suspension and beefier brakes.

The Q3 S could be unveiled in the fall of 2012, so stay tuned for more information.

You might not be familiar with the 1996 Golf Harlequin, but many Audi/VW fans are. And for some strange reason the car has developed an almost cult like following. You certainly would struggle to find any other factory delivered car that has anything close this crazy of a paint scheme. The result was a car that truly stood out in a crowd. Whether or not you believe this was in a good way, well that doesn’t really matter if the point was to just stand out.

15 years later, an Audi owner named Michael Reisinger decided he wanted his 2000 Audi RS4 to stand out in a crowd as well. He adapted the Golf Harlequin theme, with a little bit of a twist via Hello Kitty brakes and a splash of pink. He finished the look off with a set of 20″ Rotiform forged BLQs with gold centers and chrome hoops. His goal was to stand out in a crowd, and we can’t possibly see how that will be any problem for him now. Before you start sending hate mail his way, he was able to accomplish this new livery with the use of vinyl (temporary) graphics. So all of you Audi supremacists can relax, he didn’t ruin a perfectly good RS4 in the process.

We applaud Michael for his bold design and the cohones to pull of such a feat. We don’t think that there are many cars out there that can pull this type of outfit off, but the RS4 Avant certainly has the power to leave any would be mockers in a wake of tire smoke. The car also features custom B7 RS4 brake disks and RS6 brake calipers. The RS4 also has a custom tune likely in the mid 400 HP range and custom Friedrich Motorsport suspension.

Van 1 tot en met 3 juli worden zo’n 150.000 bezoekers verwacht tijdens het jaarlijkse Festival of Speed in het Britse Goodwood, waar de Earl of March and Kinrara autoliefhebbers uitnodigt op zijn landgoed. In Goodwood ontmoeten legenden elkaar, waarbij zowel de auto’s als de aanwezige coureurs en oud-coureurs een ‘who is who’ van de autosport vormen. Audi Tradition is dit jaar aanwezig met twee historische Auto Union-raceauto’s, de zogeheten ‘Silberpfeile’, die zullen worden bestuurd door Pink Floyd-drummer Nick Mason, ervaren coureur en liefhebber van historische auto’s, en oud-Formule 1-coureur Hans-Joachim Stuck.

Voor Stuck, die afgelopen weekeinde tijdens de 24-uursrace op de Nürburgring zijn laatste grote wedstrijd reed, zijn de ‘Silberpfeile’ van de Auto Union uit de jaren dertig een deel van de familiegeschiedenis. Zijn vader Hans Stuck behaalde als coureur in 1934 de eerste overwinningen voor de destijds nieuw opgerichte sportafdeling van Auto Union. Met de door Ferdinand Porsche ontwikkelde raceauto met 16-cylinder-middenmotor vestigde Stuck sr., die de bijnaam ‘Bergkoning’ kreeg, al direct een aantal records op de Avus in Berlijn. Stuck was de enige coureur die van 1934 tot 1939, toen het ‘compressor-tijdperk’ door het uitbreken van de Tweede Wereldoorlog abrupt werd beĆ«indigd, zonder onderbreking voor de Auto Union racete. Zoon Hans-Joachim Stuck zal in Goodwood een replica van de Auto Union D Doppelkompressor uit 1939 besturen, een exacte kopie van de auto waarmee zijn vader destijds reed. “Voor mij een bijzonder emotioneel moment”, aldus Hans-Joachim Stuck, die zelf voor Audi ondermeer in 1990 de DTM-titel won.

Dat ook Nick Mason in Goodwood een van de Auto Union-raceauto’s bestuurt, is inmiddels een goede traditie. De drummer van de rockband Pink Floyd bezit een fantastische verzameling historische raceauto’s en nam deel aan tal van wedstrijden, waaronder de 24 Uur van Le Mans. In Goodwood rijdt Mason met een Auto Union Typ C, waarmee Bernd Rosemeyer in 1936 Europees kampioen werd. Mason rijdt al voor de vijfde keer met een Auto Union in Goodwood, zodat hij intussen als ‘de laatste fabrieksrijder van de Auto Union’ wordt bestempeld. “Het is een mooie ervaring, precies 75 jaar na Rosemeyers grote succes met deze legendarische auto te mogen rijden”, zegt Mason.

Naast Stuck en Mason met de historische Auto Union-raceauto’s komt ook Marco Werner voor Audi in actie. De Duitse coureur won voor Audi drie keer de 24 Uur van Le Mans en zegevierde ook in de klassieke lange-afstandsraces van Daytona en Sebring. In Goodwood rijdt hij met de Audi R10 TDI, de auto waarmee Audi als eerste merk de 24 Uur van Le Mans met behulp van een dieselmotor won. Audi Tradition brengt bovendien nog twee vooroorlogse DKW-motorfietsen mee naar Goodwood: een DKW SS250 uit 1937 en een DKW SS350 uit 1939.

Audi viert zijn tiende overwinning van de 24 uur van Le Mans met een Limited Edition van de R8 V8 CoupƩ. De auto wordt in een beperkte oplage van slechts 100 stuks gebouwd.

De feestversie onderscheidt zich met een bijzondere titanium-look exterieurkleur, dito 19-inch lichtmetalen wielen, geĆÆnspireerd op de R8 GT, en rode remtangen. Tegen meerprijs wordt het Carbon Package geleverd. De sideblades, buitenspiegels en het frame rondom de motorruimte wordt dan in een koolstofvezel-look uitgevoerd.

Binnenin zien we een zwart/rood nappa lederen interior, afgewerkt met rode stiknaden, een navigatiesysteem, een Bang & Olufsen geluidsinstallatie en een Bluetooth hands freesysteem met in de veiligheidsgordel verwerkte microfoons.

Motorisch is de R8 V8 Limited Edition eender aan de gewone R8 V8. Ook de feestversie snelt in 4,6 naar de honderd en haalt een top van 300 km/h. Geïnteresseerden in de R8 Limited Edition kunnen zich wellicht melden bij de Britse importeur. Alle honderd exemplaren zijn namelijk bestemd voor Groot-Brittannië.

The smallest car in Audi’s lineup, the Audi TT (Tourist Trophy), started its life back in 1998 after being previewed by a first concept car in 1995. The second generation TT was then unveiled 8 years later - in 2006 - and was still offered in both coupe and roadster versions. Now, we hear that the third generation Audi TT will be unveiled in 2014, following the eight year pattern set by the first and second generations. This generation will debut as a coupe version with a roadster set to follow a few months later.

The current Audi TT is being built on the Volkswagen’s PQ35 platform – which offers a front engine chassis and front or all wheel drive powertrain, but for the next TT things are going to change a lot.The Audi TT will be built on an entirely new platform, that will offer a mid-engine configuration. This will help improve both balance and handling.Under the hood Audi will place the conventional 1.4 liter TSI engine with 186 HP and a 2.0 TDI engine with 170 HP. For the top version model, the TT-RS, expect to see a 350 HP 2.5 five-cylinder engine.

We expect some big changes to occur with the third generation Audi TT. Mainly, we expect to see a sportier and aggressive design language inspired by the latest E-tron concept car. Of course, Audi will want to make a differentiate between the TT and the future R4 (or R5 as it is lately rumored to be called), but we still expect to see a new front grille, new headlamps with LED light, and a modified rear.

Audi aims to continue its string of victories at the Le Mans 24 Hours with a completely new LMP1 sports car development. Since its debut in 1999, the brand with the Four Rings has won the world's most important endurance race as many as nine times with the R8, R10 TDI and R15 TDI models. In doing so, Audi has equaled this feat in the race's roll of honor with Ferrari. For the first time since 1999, Audi will contest Le Mans with a closed coupe again. "A closed car has clear advantages in this respect. Our computer simulations have been confirmed in the wind tunnel and during initial track tests."

Significantly smaller engines than those used before will be prescribed at Le Mans in 2011 as the rule makers aim to achieve a substantial reduction of engine power. By opting for a 3.7-liter V6 TDI unit, Audi retains the diesel concept that saw its first victorious fielding in 2006. "From our point of view, the TDI continues to be the most efficient technology," says Ulrich Baretzky, Head of Engine Development at Audi Sport. "There are good reasons why the share of TDI units among Audi's production models is as high as it is."

Audi Q7 TDI have done a lot to change the perception that diesel vehicles are crude, stinky, black smoke-spewers, and the company's lone turbodiesel SUV gets even better for 2011. Thanks to the 406 pound-feet of torque at a low, low 1750 rpm, it takes very little throttle to accelerate or pass in traffic. Braking is precise, and the discs respond seemingly instantly to driver input. At the track, the TDI went from 0 to 60 mph in 8.6 seconds, which is about a second slower than the gas 4.2-liter V-8 we tested a couple years ago and the 2011 got through the quarter mile in 16.5 seconds at 82.

The 2011 Audi Q7 quattro has two new engines this year. The new engines are intriguing, however. Both are 3.0-liter engines. Not only does blown six make more power than the naturally-aspirated eight, Audi notes that it's some 16 percent more fuel efficient. The 2011 Audi Q7 we are reviewing is the Q7 TDI. The 3.0 TDI is the same turbodiesel V-6 as used in the recently tested 2011 Volkswagen Touareg TDI, rated at 225 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, and like the Touareg has the same eight-speed automatic transmission. And like the Touareg, has standard all-wheel drive, although for the Q7 it Audi's proprietary quattro system.
The Audi Q7 and Volkswagen Touareg are not, however, badge-engineered corporate kin. The Audi is longer, with five more inches between the front and rear axles, and seats up to seven. The Touareg has only two rows of seats.

Audi claims 8.5 seconds for the zero-to-sixty mph dash. Standard towing capacity is 5,500lbs (with a 550 pound tongue-weight), plus there's a trailer hitch package that includes a tow bar and increased cooling capacity, increasing tow rating to 6,600lbs (with a 660 pound tongue-weight).
The EPA rating for the 2011 Audi Q7 TDI is 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, however we found that we were able to get 24.0 mpg with mostly highway driving, with 19.7 mpg in mixed all-around driving in cold weather and hilly terrain, both having a negative impact on fuel economy numbers.

A1 1.6 TDI falls even further from this week as an even more fuel efficient version of the frugal premium sub-compact hatchback shrugs off road tax and the London congestion charge through a lower 99g/km CO2 output. Improved 74.3mpg economy potential, and unchanged OTR prices for the SE, Sport and S line models ranging from £14,480 to £17,865, also help to make the thriftiest A1 an even more desirable proposition.

Further optimisation of the fuel system and engine management unit has reduced the CO2 output of the A1 1.6 TDI from 105g/km to 99g/km, and boosted its official combined economy figure from 70.6mpg to 74.3mpg. As before, the achievement of these outstanding figures is aided by engine start-stop and energy recuperation systems.

The performance delivered by the turbo charged and directly injected common rail unit also remains as keen as ever. The A1 1.6 TDI with five-speed manual transmission sprints from rest to 62mph in 10.5 seconds, and where conditions allow can reach a top speed of 118mph.

The advantage held by the revised 1.6 TDI won’t only be felt at the filling station. With CO2 dipping below the 100g/km mark it is exempt from the London congestion charge, and also from Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) from year 2 onwards as the duty bandings currently stand. The majority of A1 models, including the 1.6 TDI, are already duty-free in the first year of ownership.

The A1 1.6 TDI with 99g output can be ordered in all three UK A1 trim levels – SE, Sport and S line. Features common to all include alloy wheels, remote central locking, air conditioning, electric front windows and mirrors and a six-speaker single CD audio system with auxiliary iPod connection linked to a 6.5-inch retractable display.
