Volkswagen has officially unveiled the Golf R Cabriolet concept at GTI-Wörthersee 2011.
Designed to demonstrate the "inexhaustible potential of the Golf," the concept is distinguished by an aggressive front fascia, aerodynamic side skirts and a center-mounted dual exhaust system. Other goodies include a sport-tuned suspension, a high-performance braking system and 19-inch alloy wheels.No interior pictures were released, but Volkswagen says the cabin has Nappa leather sport seats, piano black trim and carbon fiber accents.
Like the standard all-wheel-drive Golf R, power is provided by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that develops 270 PS (199 kW / 266 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the convertible to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in "less than six seconds" and hit a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
The Golf R Cabriolet is the fastest open-top Golf ever.
