Porsche Cayenne diesel, hybrid and turbo performance upgrades

Porsche has announced performance upgrades on three Cayenne variants - the Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S Hybrid and the Cayenne Turbo.

For starters comes the Cayenne Diesel, whose 3.0 liter V6 oil-burner now gets a modest power bump of 5 PS (3.7 kW) for a total output of 245 PS (180 kW / 242 bhp). But that modest boost now delivers a smoother acceleration which is good for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 7.6 seconds (0.2 quicker than the previous model). Top speed is also bumped up by 2 km/h to 220 km/h (137 mph).

The Cayenne Turbo gets a more substantial boost of 40 PS (29 kW) to 540 PS (397 kW / 535 bhp), with maximum torque increasing too to 750 Nm. Sprint performance is also improved to 4.6 seconds (0.1 seconds quicker) for the 0 to 100 km (62 mph) run, and top speed is now 281 km/h (176 mph).

The Cayenne S Hybrid gets a technical improvement which allows the car to begin driving-off on electric power alone even in cold temperatures. Porsche has made some modifications to the hybrid manager to allow the Cayenne S Hybrid to drive from a cold start at low speeds on electric power alone. Previously, pure electric driving was only available once the right operating temperature had been reached.
